Veteran Republican activist Angie LaPlante of Edmond will run for vice-chairman of the Oklahoma Republican Party as part of a ticket with Chairman Gary Jones, who is seeking reelection.
LaPlante is the current First Vice-President of the Oklahoma Federation of Republican Women (OFRW). She served as President of the Edmond Republican Women's Club (ERW) from 2004-2006.
During that time membership increased over 400%. She helped set up and run the Edmond Republican headquarters and their 72-Hour "Elephant Stampede" Program in 2004, where they distributed over 40,000 pieces of campaign literature.
Her efforts paid off with every Edmond legislator winning their elections.
Current State V-Chair Cheryl Williams has also announced a run for Chair position.
Delegates to the State Convention April 17-18 will vote for state officers.
